Dubai

Dubai 2010 – Day 12 – Going home

We woke up early to get to the airport on time. We left the apartment and said goodbye to my Mom at around 4 a.m. Dad and Little brother drove us to the airport and our long trip started.

At the airport we checked in, it took forever, but we found out that our trip was going to be delayed about an hour. Since our flight from Kiev was going to be leaving about 3 hours from our arrival time, we weren’t worried at all.

We walked around the stores and the Duty Free shops and bought some candy and chips to have on the plane. We wanted to make sure that we’d have something to nibble on on the flight, because we know what kind of crap food we were going to be served.

Dubai International Airport – where they do have wi-fi =) We ate some breakfast and then we just sat and waited for the departure time.

Then finally we got to leave

Up in the air – crossing Iran we believe…

Look at those mountains aren’t they great =)

We were served sweet and sour chicken and rice for breakfast – TGiMcD  and candy. AeroSvit what the hell???

Ukraine.

After arrival in Kiev, Ukraine we were informed, well not informed per say, we had to figure that out ourselves by checking the tickets, nothing on the flight boards, no information anywhere or by anyone – that we were 4 hours delayed. Thank you AeroSvit! That would mean that our party at New Years Eve in Uppsala at K2 & K3 house was somewhat in the crapper – but we were determined to make it. So I sent an SMS to my friend Berget and her A2, whom we were supposed to pick up on our way to Uppsala, and told her that she had to make their own way to Uppsala. And also that she would have to make my dessert that I had been in charge of. No worries!

Now it was just time for us to sit back and wait and wait and wait….I don’t think I had to tell you that that made me really irritated…

Finally it was time to get on the plane and we set of towards Stockholm. At the airport we realized that our bags had been broken into and the bags had been destroyed. So our being 4 hours late, wasn’t enough, we had to report the damage on the bag and then we started walking towards the parking. The car had been stowed away in an outdoor parking although under roof and therefore we didn’t have to dig the car out of all the snow that had come since we had been gone. A quick defrost and we were on our way

The snowfall had become lots and lots more since we had landed and the road to Uppsala was snowy and non plowed, but we made it there in not time and as soon as we got there the horrible nervous feeling rolled off me and I was so happy…

Now a New Years party with the best of friends…. but more on that later!
